Halloween Survival Guide
Whether you have kids are not chances are over this weekend and in the coming days you will tempted by sweet treats, cakes and biscuits as part of the Halloween celebrations. All you have to do is step into a shop or supermarket and you are practically engulfed by sugar. Also if you are off work this coming week chances are you will be out of your usual routine which is when poor habits can set in. I understand because I have been there before. In the past I have put on weight when the kids are off at the mid term and I have ended up undoing all the previous month’s hard work. When I am out of routine I know now I need extra support and guidance to stay on track eating well and exercising.
I have created a free private Facebook group to help you survive Halloween.
click right here for the link to join up.
I will post up tips, suggestions and links every day and I am also here to answer any questions you might have for the week!
So this group is for you if:-
- you struggle to maintain your weight over holiday periods
- if you find it hard to stay on track when out of routine
- if you would like to be part of a community of people that want to eat and live well and share experiences with each other.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Below are a few tips to get you started and keep YOU on track over the next few days.
Dealing with children and the sugar rush is another day’s post. This one is just of you.
Tip 1
Commit to yourself that you are NOT going to snack on sweets, cakes, biscuits over Halloween. I know it is difficult. If you are trying to lose weight remember what are the motivating factors that are driving this goal. Always ask yourself will this snack hinder and help me in achieving my goals. Decide on a non-food reward to yourself for avoiding temptation. I will be going for a facial next Friday – it’s booked already. It is my special reward to me – I just have to avoid the C*** for the week.
Tip 2
If you are buying sweets to handout for Halloween night my advise is buy them on Monday. The longer the sweets are in your house the more likely you will be tempted. Don’t do what I used to do, buy them a few days before hand, eat them and replenish them for Halloween.
Tip 3
Don’t buy your favourite bars – chances are you will eat them.
Tip 4
Whatever junk is left after the final caller BIN IT. If you know you are going to do this you will not over buy.
Tip 5
Get plenty of rest and relaxation, avoid stress, drink plenty of water, avoid excess alcohol and get at least 8 hours sleep.
